Subj: Avalanche Beacons

I'm thinking about buying an avalanche beacon for this winter. I'm a
ski instructor in California and want to get into backcountry skiing.
I know that all transievers are going to the European frequency. Can anyone
else give me some information about beacons? What brand is it? What bells
and wistles does it have. What makes it a good transiever? How much does it
cost? Any information at all.
